The Consorzio del Vino Orcia, born in 2000 as a free association of producers, includes 13 municipalities: Buonconvento, Castiglione d’Orcia, Pienza, Radicofani, San Giovanni d’Asso, San Quirico d’Orcia, Trequanda and the municipalities of San Abbadia Salvatore, Chianciano Terme, Montalcino, San Casciano dei Bagni, Sarteano and Torrita di Siena. It aims to protect and promote the image of wine Orcia and disseminate knowledge in Italy and worldwide. Three Orcia DOC wines: White, Red and Vin Santo. At the discretion of the manufacturer, is also in the Orcia Novello. Few but good types of wine that, although originating from different grape varieties, are characterized by specific soil and climate factors (soil rich in minerals and temperature variations between day and night), which gives fruitiness and freshness to white, color intensity, bouquet and structure to the Red, and velvet flavor with Vin Santo. Besides cooking, the Doc Orcia is the best match with the typical local dishes than with other similar national cuisine.
